Cold, Strep, or the Flu.....

I just got back from taking Kevin to the doctor. He woke up saturday morning and wasnt feeling very good. He laid on the couch all day and he had a mild fever. Sunday he still wasnt feeling well so he stayed home from church (which is not a common thing for him). This morning he woke up to get ready for work and he still wasnt feeling well. So I opted to stay home and take him to the doctors. Well they tested him for strep and that came back negative, and so the Physician Assistant we seen sent us to the hospital lab to do a flu test. After waiting for the results for an hour we finally got the results. Sure enough they came back positive for influenza A. There is no cure for this, and the RX that he could give us would only lessen the symptoms for a couple days and it would cost us like $50. We decided not to do that, however, he's out of work for a week. His boss told him not to come back until he is sure he's over it, he doesnt want it to spread through everyone else. He's never like this, laying on the couch, wrapped up in a blanket, complaining that he's cold, and sleeping TONZ. I feel so bad for him, I just wish that I could take it away from him.

After many prayers

Wow what a hard decision I have had to come to. I've been in the masters program at the school since April 2006. I've been in my last class my thesis since well probably June 2007. Its been a rough time since then, really stressful, lots of tears shed. I had a topic to my paper but because I became published (my name printed in a magazine of those who were presenting in San Diego), I could not use this for my paper. So after I was told that I picked a new topic, after spending hours on end doing research and much time trying to prepare my paper. I then could not use that topic, I could not use the reimbursement numbers from the insurance companies regarding the rates for in-office procedures, its agains the law. Well after that I picked my next topic. I've been working on this for a while now.

After many prayers and a lot of talking, we have decided for me not to finish. I know that this is a HUGE let down that I'm so close why not finish right? Well there are several reasons, I'm to stressed between work and school and I'm tired of crying over the paper, it is just not worth it anymore. I have had to ask myself if everytime I get on the computer is it worth me freaking out before I look into my class to see what is said this time about my aweful writing? I'm tired of losing sleep over it, and my teachers feel that I still have a long ways to go.

Another portion to why I have decided not to finish is because I am getting the run around from my teachers. My 3rd committee member was no longer allowed to be on my committee because she's a doctor and couldnt make all the time in the world to have a meeting. I was told that they would find me a 3rd member, and then a month later when I asked about it, I was told it was my job and that I was never told that they would help me. Another reason is because my dream job is not to run a hospital or even a doctors office for that matter, my dream job is to be a mom. I have my bachelors degree that is good enough. So on monday morning I will be contacting the school and telling them that I no longer wish to participate in the masters program. Some of you may say "but your so close", and I'm aware of this, but after my melt down friday and sobbing for a couple hours I just decided that it wasnt worth the stress anymore.

Couple Updates!

A couple weeks ago Kev was asked to talk to the Primary boys who will be turning 12 this year and who will receive the priesthood. So last night he gave his 5 min (he said really was 10 min) talk. I'm sure he did great!! I wish that I was able to attend but because I had hurt my back on friday I thought it would be best if I just layed around the house. He had read me his talk and it sounded awesome. Apparently some of the people who was there was saying that they hope that they dont steal Kev out of the Primary and put him in the Young Mens. Oh I think I forgot to mention that he's teaching the 11 and 12 year olds. When he came home he was so proud that most of the boys there were all the boys in his class! He's challenged them all to bring their scriptures to church on sunday and to read them during the week, if they do this then he will give them candy, so on saturday we had to venture out and buy candy for his class.

Well on Thursday I had some blood tests done. It has been a while since I had them done. In the year 2005 I was diagnosed with a couple of things. Such as PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome) and borderline PIR, which is insulin resistance. Well today we got those test results back, and considering I work in the doctors office where I had them drawn I was able to look at them. I am officially PIR, my pancreas is making more insulin which increases the insulin in my blood. My insulin is to high, it is supposed to be less than 17 and mine was 30, yep thats right a big 30!! I of course freaked out, however, it could be the cause of the weight I've put on (I wish). Anyways as I was talking with Jamie about it, she suggested that I make an appointment with her to discuss treatment options. So now I get to visit with her, but I've worked in this doctors office for 2 years so I know whats going to happen. I'm going to be put on Glucophage and I'll have to start the South Beach Diet again, which really does work. The bad thing about all these things is that it could make it harder to get pregnant. So because Kev went out and bought a Total Gym we will be using this daily to help make my numbers drop!

Snow Angels

When we got our first nice snow storm, Kevin was soooo excited to get in his snow gear that I bought him last year for Christmas. So he went out and shoveled the driveway and the walk way. He then asked if I would take a picture of him making a snow angel. He has been wanting to make a snow angel for a long time. I guess being from California where they do not get much snow it was just to much for him to handle!

Christmas

I know I'm so late getting up some of our Christmas pictures. We had a great Christmas and was able to spend the day with my family. On the 22nd we had my work Christmas party at my bosses house and we had a lot of fun and good food. The same day we also had my dad's side of the family Christmas party. We were only able to be there for less than an hour because we had to be at my work party and with me being the office manager it was a must that I was there. Christmas Eve we spent it with my mom's side of the family. We had good food and a lot of fun. Christmas morning me and Kev woke up and we opened the presents we got for each other. Our big present was our time share we bought in Sept. we then had a small budget. Below are some of our favorite gifts. Kev had been asking for the first season of Hero's for a long time, I finally gave in and bought it for him. I know that the picture of Kevin is a little blurry. The picture of the temple that he got me was something that I have wanted for a long time but could never bring myself to purchase it. We then went to my parents and opened presents with them. We then went down to my grandparents house and had Christmas breakfast and opened more presents. We had a wonderful Christmas with family and enjoyed every minute of it. We really wish that we would of been able to spend time with Kev's family.
